The Box closed as planned on Wednesday, September 30. A big thank you to everyone who visited our temporary exhibition and contributed to the wonderful atmosphere at Nova Arena.<\/p>

We will reopen at our regular premises on 20 February 2027, once the museum\u2019s roof renovation has been completed.<\/p>

What is The Box?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The Box was a temporary exhibition held at a different venue from 6 June to 30 September 2026, while the museum\u2019s roof was being renovated. It offered a unique opportunity to see a large part of the world\u2019s finest collection of Saab cars, cared for by the Saab Car Museum.<\/p>

Normally, the museum can display only around half of its collection of 140\u2013150 vehicles. In The Box, visitors could instead view 115 fascinating cars and one caravan. Saab created many unforgettable models that have a place in both Swedish and international industrial, design, and motorsport history.<\/p>

The Box showcased a wide range of Saab cars, from the first prototype, the \u201cUrsaab\u201d from 1946, to the very last cars produced before the company went bankrupt in 2011. The exhibition also featured cars that had never before been shown to the public.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Why did we create the exhibition The Box?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Since 1987, the Saab Car Museum has been housed in NOHAB\u2019s former locomotive factory in the Innovatum District. Built in 1906, the building is full of charm and history. Both we and our visitors love the building, but it was time to renovate the roof and the roof lanterns that fill the museum with wonderful natural daylight.<\/p>

During the roof renovation, the museum must be emptied. This gave us an opportunity to create something memorable for our visitors by establishing The Box in a nearby venue.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What is Nova Arena?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The Box was on display in Nova Arena, Nohabgatan 35, just a few hundred meters from the Saab Car Museum. Nova Arena is housed in the former industrial hall Building 88, constructed in 1959 for turbine assembly. The hall has also been used for lock-gate repairs, steel construction manufacturing, and film productions.<\/p>

Today, this industrial space from a bygone era is a modern arena that typically hosts concerts, stage shows, fairs, and conferences. With a breathtaking ceiling height of 25 meters and 2,700 square meters of floor space, Nova Arena is perfectly suited for events that go beyond the ordinary \u2013 and that is exactly what The Box is all about!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Will the museum close?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Oh no! We did exactly the opposite. Instead of closing during the roof renovation, we made more cars accessible to the public than we normally can display. In other words, we expanded our exhibition when the museum temporarily moved to Nova Arena.<\/p>

However, to make The Box possible while the museum\u2019s roof was being renovated, the Saab Car Museum had to close completely during May as we moved the exhibition to Nova Arena. We will also be closed for the entire period while we move back to our regular premises. The museum will reopen on Saturday, 20 February 2027.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
