Many opportunities to celebrate the Saab Car Museum's 50th anniversary

At the Saab Car Museum, the legendary Saab spirit lives on – stronger than ever! The museum will turn 50 years in 2025, and we want to make sure to celebrate that. We will both celebrate the museum and pay attention to interesting people, exciting stories and important events that have shaped the history of the Saab company and its cars.

By spreading out events and activities throughout the year, we hope that as many people as possible can visit the Saab Car Museum in a festive way. The museum in Trollhättan will of course be the center of the celebration, but we will also appear in other places where car enthusiasts gather.

The events we present here form the backbone of this year's program, but don't be surprised if more activities appear during the year, both stand-alone events and various program activities linked to the main events.

We will continuously present detailed programs on our website and in social media, and we really look forward to meeting all of you who want to celebrate the museum's first 50 years together with us and our partners.

As usual, there is also the opportunity for groups and organizations to arrange their own conferences, meetings and other types of events at the museum. Contact us with your wishes and ideas, and we will try to put together a memorable day together with you.

If you have the chance, please visit us with your own Saab during our anniversary year! A Saab feels best when it’s driven – all the way home to Trollhättan.

Brief information about planned events and activities in 2025:

Roger & Saab – Opening March 15
In his work as a press photographer at the local newspaper TTELA, Roger Lärk covered Saab through its ups and downs. Now he has dug deep into the archives to be able to present nearly 100 pictures from 1973 to 2013, where people rather than cars are the focus. The images are on display in a large-scale photo exhibition at the Saab Car Museum throughout the year.

Hello Innovatum District – Saturday April 26
Together with other actors in the Innovatum District area, the Saab Car Museum invites you to a day with various activities. Take the opportunity to see the photo exhibition Roger & Saab with historical images by press photographer Roger Lärk. The museum's film room shows interesting movies and our volunteers guide visitors through the exhibition.

Museiresans dag – Saturday May 10
A day full of activities as "NAV – organisation for industrial herritage" gather working life museums from all over the Västa Götaland region. The day will offer crafts, history, machines and stories. Feel free to stop by and talk cars at the Saab Car Museum stand!

Motorhistoriska dagen (Historic Vehicle Day) – Friday June 6
Motorhistoriska dagen (the Motor History Day) is celebrated in many places around the country to draw attention to the cultural heritage of automotive history. Together with Trestads veteranbilklubb and Svenska Saabklubben Trollhättan we invite clubs and enthusiasts to gather at the Saab Car Museum, which will be a hub for various meetings and events in the region during the day. Lectures and activities will be arranged inside the museum.

Saab Car Museum 50th Birthday Party – Saturday September 6
On Saturday 6 September we celebrate the Saab Car Museum, which is turning 50! There will be several different activities where visitors can both see and hear some of the museum's cars as they are showcased in the museum's surroundings. There will be a car parade, quiz a tour of the workshop and a delicious “fika” to celebrate the anniversary. A complete program can be found on a separate page about the birthday party.

A Night at the Museum – November 8
During the evening, we will give visitors the opportunity to experience the museum's car exhibition in a different way. We will turn off the regular lighting and instead let the shapes of the cars be illuminated with atmospheric lighting. In a pleasant atmosphere, we will discuss various Saab solutions related to the theme of "light".
