They come from near, they come from far. The world is as we know full of passionate Saab enthusiasts, and that fact gets proven again and again here at Saab Car Museum. For example in the end of last year, when 29 year old Rene Kerro stopped by to get a dose of the Saab atmosphere.
Rene lives in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, and sometimes work brings him to Sweden.
– Through different circumstances I had one day free before going home. So I thought, “what’s the place to visit?” It could be a lake or a mountain or something, because the nature here in Sweden is very beautiful, Rene said.
– But I wanted to take full advantage of the day and decided to go Trollhättan and the museum, which has always been of my interest.
Worth every kilometre
So Rene drove a rented car the four hours from Västerås, where he was staying, to Trollhättan. After visiting the museum around lunchtime, Rene had to drive another five hours, passing Västerås again, to get to the Arlanda airport outside of Stockholm for the evening flight back home to Estonia.
A lot of driving for a short visit, but according to Rene, it was worth every kilometre behind the wheel.
– This is the place to be if you like Saab. Now when we speak, I have seen about half the exhibition and I am very impressed so far.
“They were fantastic”
Renes passion for Saab started a long time ago, and up until recently he owned two cars from 2004 – A 9-5 Aero 2.3 Turbo and a 9-3.
– They were fantastic, and never let me down. Mostly, I love the interior, which I think is totally different compared to other manufacturers. The Aero seats are really good for long drives, and I also like the speed and acceleration.
However, lack of time to maintain the cars made Rene decide to sell them earlier in the autumn.
Might be a Saab owner – again
So the visit to Trollhättan also had a symbolic meaning.
– For me it’s the last goodbye as a Saab owner right now, it’s a good way to end the experience.
However, in the future it might be another “hello” to the beloved brand from Trollhättan.
Do you think you will own a Saab again?
– Definitely, I will. Mostly I would like to try a 9000 Aero or a 900, we will see what happens …
Then Rene went back to enjoy the rest of the exhibition at the museum, before it was time to start the long journey back home.
